Sam had some pretty cool news from work yesterday. He, the GIS tech who is kind of above him in a way, and his "big boss" had a meeting. It turns out that the GIS tech has been mentioning how much Sam does and his interest in continuing to learn new skills in planning and GIS. So, at the meeting his big boss said that he'd like Sam to work on his usual daily responsibilities as the plan scanner for half the day and to learn and do skills and things that fall under would fall under the duties of a GIS tech the other half of the day from now on. This is really good because:
1. Sam is being recognized for his abilites.
2. Sam is getting more chances to learn more and show his natural abilities.
3. Sam will have the chance to show off his skills and abilities so that people above him will see his value and worthiness to move up the ladder one day.
4. Even though, for obvious budgetary reasons, he won't be paid more for right now, Sam will be moved up the "career ladder" scale as soon as it's possible for the city budget to allow it.
Yay, Sam! I'm proud of you! I love you!
