Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

I really need to do a better job at blogging! It's been too long!

This past Friday I was lucky enough to get a little bonus day out of school, since our spring break is still a while away. I ran errands, went to Honda for my CRV's oil change and checkup, and then met Sam for lunch. We were trying to get our passports ordered at the post office during his lunch break, too. So, we went to the Bartlett post office. When we got to the front of the line, the employee told us she couldn't help us because we didn't make an appointment. I'm sorry, but since when does a person need to make an appointment to get something done at the post office? That seems silly. Especially when she took ten minutes explaining that all her appointments for the next several days were booked. Especially when she took more time talking about this with us than it did for me to later go in the Arlington post office for the lady there to do the passport order for me, which took, I swear to you, less than five minutes. Hmmph! :) Sam took care of his today on his lunch break. At least they're ordered now!

This weekend Sam and I stayed home Friday night, went to Bahama Breeze (yum... smothered pork tenderloin!) and the Grizzlies game Saturday with my parents, went to church on Sunday.

My other big task this past weekend was to create three of my "fancy clipboards" for Mandy, Courtney, and Anna's friend (The last one was a paid order!).... Here's how they turned out:

These suckers are definitely a tedious little labor of love. But, it was fun to see my friends' faces when I gave each one to them. There are still a few more boards to do for my other kindergarten teacher buddies before the end of the year.... maybe hot pink, black, and white for those??

Today Jennifer, Mandy, and I had our first online chat for our masters program. The three of us were busy, busy, busy reading our material and preparing for the discussion questions. The chat was actually really cool. We talked about the learing process and the brain body system. The brain-body system basically is all about how our bodies, senses, emotions, thinking, and perceptions are all intertwined. My favorite thing someone said was that the body and mind are intertwined and that what the brain feels, the body feels, too. This week we are supposed to visit a few online resources to help us learn more about the brain and learning. We also have our first paper due Sunday.

Also, today the "C" button fell off the laptop keyboard. So, there it is, sitting next to my post-it note pad, while I now type "C" by pressing the little nub where the button used to be. I think the laptop will go to a repair place tomorrow!

total so far this year:
aerobics: 18 hrs.
walking: 38.0 miles (walked three miles today with Courtney and Mandy after school. Thank you, God, for even blessing me with amazing friends at work. You look after me all the time and put great people in my life where I don't expect it.)
