Seventeen Weeks

I can't believe, as of yesterday, I am seventeen weeks pregnant. Goodness! Today also marks that, if you go by the calendar, I am also exactly four months pregnant. Almost halfway to the finish line!

It seems like this pregnancy is going by really quickly! I am so glad I am as far along as I am, but I also hope this pregnancy goes by slowly so we can soak it all in. I also realize I should do this update every week because if I write it every two weeks, it turns into a novel!

Here I am at seventeen weeks (and a day).

Do I look like I am carrying high or low to you?

highlights from this week:

weight gain/loss:
still about 2-3 lbs.

maternity clothes:
comfy yoga pants (that were kind of big in the first place), maternity jean capris, some maternity shirts, some regular shirts

gender:
Sam is still thinking it's a girl. I am kind of thinking it's a girl, too. Every once in a while, I think it's a boy. Friends' opinions are split down the middle.

size of baby:
soda can, 5ish inches

movement:
Yes. I can definitely tell it's the baby now. I am loving that, often, 30 minutes after I eat, I am feeling him or her. It's kind of funny because a while back at the last ultrasound, I asked Sam if he thought the baby feels gravity. I was wondering if, when lying on my right or left side, the baby was feeling upside down or anything. So, last night, I swear, first I was on my right side, and I could feel the baby shift. Then, I turned to my left side, and I could feel the baby shift again for a good three-five minutes. I know I'm not crazy! ha!

food cravings:
I am liking fruit a lot (green apples, pineapples), but I am also thinking about Dr. Pepper and pizza (and trying to behave).

what I miss:
I don't miss much of anything right now, except for sleeping better on a regular basis. I wake up to go to the bathroom at least once a night!

sleep:
The Boppy pillow is the best.

what I am looking forward to:
enjoying being pregnant with Sam, watching my belly grow more, finding out Baby Harris' gender, feeling the baby move more, learning from my friends who just had babies, spending time with good friends these last couple weeks of summer and sharing pregnancy stories, planning our last little beach trip before we become parents, getting the house and baby's room ready

symptoms:
First trimester seem to make a reappearance from time to time. I get nauseous around dinnertime from time to time. Yesterday I took a three and a half hour nap because I was so tired; the baby is working hard turning cartilage to bone this week, so that must be the cause. (I am thankful for the symptoms, though. Except for the headaches... I don't miss them!)

best moments this week:
* feeling the little monkey move more!
* hanging out with Sam beginning to get the baby's room ready - We worked on the quarter rounds and took all our winter clothes from the baby's closet.
* We keep on looking at all the sweet baby bedding online. I have narrowed the choices down two choices each for a boy or girl. There's so much to choose from.

I thought I'd share this in case my pregnant friends haven't seen them.
favorite pregnancy websites:
Babycenter, The Bump, Parents

Awww yay! Your bump is smack in the middle but if I had to guess I think as you progress you will carry lower. Looks like it's a matter of time before that lower half fills out;)
