Bedroom Makeover Almost Complete!

I've finally gotten around to taking photos of our newly redecorated bedroom!

I wish I'd taken "before photos" to show how it looked before all our hard work, but I didn't. So, a little description will have to do. Our bedroom used to be the color of the living room and hall, "bungalow gold", a warm, wheat kind of color. Then, two years later, we decided to paint it a very, very light green. We had brown bedding with sparse goldish green embroidery. The room looked nice. But, for the past few months, Sam and I have definitely been over it.

We found bedding we like and used it to come up with how we wanted the rest of the room to look. We also wanted to pull up the carpet, as it was looking less than pristine anymore.

This is the view on the left as you come in the bedroom door. It's hard to the true color of the paint in this lighting.
This is the view as you look toward the right from the doorway. The color of the room is called "fortune cookie" by Martha Stewart.

looking into our sitting room... We are looking for a rug to put down to define the space. Would it be weird if I bought an identical rug to the one under the bed?

my nightstand... There's just no point in putting my new books and current books somewhere else. They are my comfort and they're staying, messy or not. :)
Sam's nightstand... He likes the remotes and books about geography. Under those books is a Sports Illustrated. But this week's edition has Kobe Bryant on the cover, which is why it's hidden. :)

I love this part. That's my wedding bouquet. As soon as the wedding was over, my parents were kind enough to pack my bouquet in a cooler and ship it to a lady in Alabama who preserves them. It was worth every penny.

Here's the next "wedding area". That's one of my favorite photos.
My headpiece I wore is on the frame.

So, that's our newly redecorated bedroom. There are still little things to do.... get a rug for the sitting area, add beaded trim to the curtains and/or lamps, add a little lamp to the table in the sitting area, make a decision about chairs for the sitting area (the ones in there now were ones we had... they may or may not stay in there), add quarter rounds to the baseboards, and maybe add a little more to the walls. But, I'd say this is a pretty good start!

I think it looks fab! You've obviously used a lot of special personal touches, especially with wedding keepsakes. We are actually getting a new (king-size, yay!) bed this weekend so I'm looking forward to getting new bedding and redecorating our room. Believe it or not, the new bedding I like is from Wal-mart, lol, but it's the perfect color combination that I've been trying to find for two years and haven't been able to. Hopefully we'll get things done quickly and I'll be able to post pics soon. You've definitely motivated and inspired me. ;)

P.S. It would not be weird to get an identical rug for the sitting area if that's what you think works. It would definitely help to tie the two spaces together, but that's just my humble opinion.

Why didn't I know about this woman in Alabama who preserves your bouquet? Love it! I love the room. I want to see your floors!
