The last decade (ya know, the one that ended yesterday!) was such a big one for me and for Sam. We actually began dating at the beginning of the decade, finished college/started our careers and got married in the middle of the decade, and celebrated our five year anniversary toward the end of the decade. All in all, I'd say the last ten years have been pretty great! I can't believe it went by so quickly!
I always love New Years Day because it's the start of a brand new year, and to me that sounds like brand new chances and fresh new starts.
Last night we celebrated the New Year by going to a fabulous party held by Laura and two of her downtown friends. (By the way, Laura and I were talking about it, and we have now been friends for 15 years.... wow!) On our way down there, Sam and I were talking about New Year's resolutions and all the things we are looking forward to this coming year. The party was held at the Shrine Building in a beautiful condo with beautiful views of downtown. We had such a good time catching up with people we've met over the last few years. And, it's always nice to catch up with my sweet Laura!
So, back to the New Year's resolutions.....
We are ambitious this year!
Together, Sam and I are still working on "the baby thing". In 2009, I had a miscarriage, took two rounds of Clomid, found out it wasn't working, took one round of progesterone, and then was put back on Clomid that I just finished today. We are hoping that all this brings us closer to figuring out the perfect combination we'll need for having a baby, hopefully in 2010! It's in God's hands... I am just trying to be a good listener and do what He is guiding me to do.
Our other hopes and goals for 2010 are, in no particular order:
1. Sam wants to run in the half marathon later this year. He can already run five miles on the treadmill, so I know he'll be able to do this. I am looking forward to cheering him on!
2. Money, Money, Money... We are working on paying off the last of debt and a big chunk of our student loans. In addition, of course, we will still work on building up our savings.
3. We have a couple goals for our home, too. We want to install new flooring in our living room, dining room, and hall.
4. I am hoping to continue to work on bettering myself as a person. I want to grow spiritually and become better at taking time to listen to and pay closer attention to the direction God is leading me/us toward. Also, though I really love Sunday mornings at Hope, I really want us to find a small group of friends within the church so that it feels a little more personal.
5. My other personal goals for myself this year are to make myself stronger physically. I hope to exercise more regularly and build up our regularly used recipes to include more varied nutritious meals.
I am excited to begin 2010!
