I can't believe how long it's been since I've added any posts to the blog! That's how ya know school has started... time is consumed those first few weeks by school work, school work, school work! I promise, teachers have waaaaay more homework than kids do!Anyway, last weekend was very special. My sister came from San Diego to visit for my Momo's 90th birthday! It's been about two years since Marsha last came to town, so we were all excited to see her and have her here for Momo's big birthday. Here's how the weekend went....
Thursday, Aug. 20...
Marsha arrived. She and my parents stopped by our house on the way home from the airport. Sam and I took Marsha to Memphis Pizza in Overton Square for a late dinner. (If you've never eaten there, then you need to stop whatever you're doing and go now.) Afterward, we went to Sidestreet Cafe to visit an old friend of hers.
Friday, Aug. 21...
Sam and I took a personal day from work to hang out with the sis. We started off shopping at Saddle Creek and The Avenue. Marsha and I found some great stuff... new moisturizer (because we both tend to have dry skin and need to concentrate on fending off the wrinkles by using quality products!), some new makeup, and some great shoes. We had lunch at Bonefish Grill and shakes at Cheeburger Cheeburger. While the three of us were out shopping, my parents took the day to buy a new car. My mom is the proud new owner of a Nissan Rogue; she looks so cute in it. Friday night was down-time over at Mom and Dad's; we had pizza and took it easy.
Saturday, Aug. 22...
Sam and I went to my parents' house to hang out with everybody for breakfast. Sam and I took Marsha to meet a friend. On the way back to Arlington, Sam and I ran a few errands. By errands, I really mean that I wanted a cute pair of shoes since Macy's was having a great clearance sale. :) Later, we got ready and headed to Jim's Place East for the big birthday dinner with the whole family to celebrate Momo turning 90. After dinner, we all went to Momo's house for a reception. She really seemed to enjoy herself and had a great time visiting with all the friends and neighbors who dropped by to have cake and celebrate.
After the party, Sam and I headed on to Midtown to meet Laura, Brent, and some folks at The Blue Monkey. Once my sister, her friend Jennifer, and our cousin Stacey played a part in helping some people in Bartlett who flipped their car just outside the gas station where they were getting drinks (that's a whole story in itself), the three of them joined us. We stayed at Blue Monkey for a while longer and then headed to Young Avenue Deli to hang out with some more of Marsha's old friends. By the time it was all said and done, Sam and I dropped off my sister at my parents' at 4:30 a.m., and we finally made it to bed just before 5!
Sunday, Aug. 23...
Sam and I went back to my parents' to say goodbye to Marsha. I always hate that part of her trip. It was an awesome, busy, fun, happy, and memorable weekend. I already miss her and can't wait to see her again soon.
