A family I don't know personally, but who lives in the community where I teach, has experienced a tremendous and scary life change in the last week. Their young daughter, Lucy, has been diagnosed with cancer, has had major surgery, and is preparing to go through a long and difficult treatment at St. Jude here in Memphis. It's hard to understand why such unimaginably difficult circumstances happen to us, but I know that God's reasons aren't for us to understand. I can't imagine how it feels to experience something like this and fight to find peace. If you have a minute, please say a prayer for this family. You can view their blog here if you'd like to read about Lucy's progress and how her family is doing.
My dear friends, Mandy and David, had a bit of a rollercoaster ride when their baby boy, Paxton, was born last night. It was such a blessing this evening getting to see the new little family and knowing that everyone is well. Paxton is a beautiful little six pounds of sweetness, and Mandy seems to be recuperating well. I am so proud for them and happy that everyone is happy and healthy. That's definitely the high for the week.
It's amazing how much life can change and how quickly it can happen. Be sure to say an extra thanks tonight when you pray. We all have a lot to be thankful for.
