Here are the highlights (and crazy moments) of the last few weeks:
April:
I finished my masters program! Whew! It was such a great feeling to submit those last papers, mail in the verification forms, fill out my graduation application, and pay my last (thank goodness!) fee. Now, I just have to wait for final grades and for the official "graduated" to be on my transcript. Then, I can submit that to the state, get my teaching license updated, submit that to school board, and get a raise! Woohoo! I plan to get that loan paid quickly so I can enjoy my new money! :) The program was great, and I learned a lot that has already been beneficial for my kids at school.
We had the kindergarten farm program at school. The kids were precious in their little costumes, and they had a big time performing for their families.
May:
It's that super busy point of the year in kindergarten. I have been working hard finishing our class video. Right now, all the photos and videos are in, the transitions are done, the titles are checked, and the features are complete. Now, I just have to add the music and the intro and make the dvd case label. It's hard to say how many hours I put into it, but my rough estimate is probably somewhere around 60-70 to actually create the master and then another 8-10 to make the labels and burn a class set of movies. This thing is such a labor of love, but it's worth it when my kids see it together for the first time.
Another kindergarten year is coming to an end. I get so attached to my kids every year, and I love that they've grown/hate to see them leave me. We are wrapping up these last few weeks of school with field day, graduation, and Breakfast in a Bag Day (families bring breakfast and everyone hangs out outside and eats and plays together). I can't believe how quickly this school year went!
This past weekend brought some pretty crazy weather. We had tornado sirens going off every few hours for two days. Many roads flooded, and things were just a mess. Fortunately, Sam and I had no damage. My parents and his mom had some flooding in their houses, but it's already on the mend. The crazy weather brought us a temporary "Lake Arlington", with water covering Hwy 70, farmland, and the local BP. After we went to dinner with my parents last Saturday, we were some of many who stopped by to take pictures of such a strange sight.
Crazy!
Tomorrow is the tenth anniversary of Sam's and my first date. How sweet! I told him he has to take me out to dinner. :)
This weekend we are cooking out on Laura's rooftop downtown with Laura and Caroline and Fred. We are looking forward to a fun weekend!
