Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

This was our first evening on the ship. If you could see behind us, you'd see us going down the Mississippi River. Seeing the swampy areas and the oil rigs was really neat.
Sunday was our "fun day at sea". This was pretty much my view all day. (Except for when I was eating!)
On Monday, we were in Progresso. The water behind us is very pink in person. It's actually a salt flat, where flamingos live. The water and their shrimp diet make them much pinker than the flamingos I've seen. We also got to watch them fly.
The buildings in Progresso were really fascinating. Some were tiny little shack-like building which were their version of our convenience stores. Even though theirs had "Enjoy Coca-Cola" painted on them, theirs also had live chicks for sale. This building, I think, was a church. Their churches were always the most beautiful.
This little girl was hanging out at the church we toured.

Here we are visiting the Mayan ruins. We are standing near where the Mayan governor and his wife would sit to view the trading going on near the temple.
Below is the view of our ship from our boat ride to snorkel in Cozumel the next day. After snorkeling, we had lunch at Three Amigos (yummy).

We had another "fun day at sea" on Wednesday.

Thursday morning we got off the ship and walked around the French Quarter a little bit before going home.

aaaaaahhhh........ Mexico!
We went to Mexico October 3-7 on our second cruise. We left out of New Orleans on a Saturday, enjoyed a "fun day at sea" Sunday, went to the Mayan ruins in Progresso on Monday, snorkeled and played at the beach in Cozumel Tuesday, and enjoyed another day at sea on Wednesday. Wednesday night was pretty cool as we got to watch the switch of the ship captains (one kind has the authority to command it in rivers, the other commands in oceans).... We watched the pilot boat come up against our ship and switch. It was also cool to watch as we entered the mouth of the Mississippi River. Can you believe that we had five days of fun (with food, tips, and fees included) for under $700? That's why I love cruises!
