I like summer.

I love teaching kindergarten. I think I have one of the best jobs anyone can have. I get to contribute to the growth of twenty (or tweny-one or twenty-two) sweet little kids each year. Another great little bonus of my career is the time off in the summer. In case you've ever wondered what teachers do all summer, here's a glimpse:

* I get to enjoy waking up without the need to rush (I only get up about twenty minutes later now than I do during the school year; it's just that I don't have to hurry to get ready and out the door by 6:50.)

* I can spend more time with friends. Though we still have to work around schedules and such, being off for a couple months gives us more time to get together.

* I get to play homemaker more. I really like this one because I can clean, paint, decorate, sew, etc., with wild abandon. :)

* I get time to go on and/or plan vacation. I am sure I haven't mentioned it at all (haha), but Sam and I just got back from a cruise a couple weeks ago. And, we're already planning another one for October (Yes, it's hurricane season. And yes, Carnival still makes it happen for anyone who wants to go. They just work around the weather and go somewhere else if needed.)

* Here's the weird part... I am so ready to get back in my classroom. This doesn't mean I am ready for another school year to start. I am just ready to get in there and set everything up again and have my room done early so that I don't have to hurry during the last weeks of summer to get it all done.

Three weeks of summer have already flown by! I am happy to have six more to enjoy!
