Hoping this doesn't happen again!

Around one a.m. Tuesday morning, Sam and I felt Tanner moving in the bed. We thought he was going to get sick, so Sam picked him up to set him on the floor and at least get him off the bed. As Sam was setting him down, we realized that Tanner couldn't hold himself up and that the second Sam was going to let go of him, he was falling on his side and panting very loudly and quickly. Then, we noticed that our sweet boy's eyes were distant. At this point, Sam and I both went into panic mode, not knowing if he was having a seizure or cardiac arrest or what! We had to get ourselves together quickly so we wouldn't freak him out any more than I am sure he already was. Sam held him, and I petted him while we both we calmly (as we could) talked to him. After another few minutes, he seemed to get control of his little body and started looking at us. Bless his heart. He wouldn't drink any water and then wanted to lie on the concrete floors for a bit. He then wanted back in bed with us after a few more minutes. Sam and I were up every hour looking at him and feeling his chest to make sure he was breathing. By the next morning, TanTan was groggy but seemed okay overall. Sam checked on him during the day, and we talked to our vet by phone. Dr. Michael (who I highly recommend if you're ever looking for a vet) said that it was a seizure. Since Tanner is seven and he's never had one, Michael said that it could be that: 1., Tanner has always been epileptic and has masked it to this point, 2. that he has a brain tumor (which Michael says is very rare and unlikely), 3. Tanner had a strange reaction to the storm, or 4. that it's just one of those unexplainable things. I am hoping it's 3. or 4. There is a chance that Tanner could have seizures regularly, from time to time, rarely, or never again. You can guess what we are hoping for. It's been a couple days now, and it's like it never happened. It has made us even that much more thankful for our (usually) healthy puglets.

back to normal....

Oh no, poor Tanner. I hope it was just an abnormal reaction to the storms...poor guy.
